Valérie Hallier - Projects

Tedious & Brief

Pieces created during my residency at NARS Foundation. Each explores the potential of flowers as communication devices to express the evolution of femininity, reversing the gaze on beauty and fragility while commenting on longevity, persistency and freedom.

23 angry roses is a temporary installation that reverses the usual romantic idea of red roses on its head, literally, revealing tooth-full angry mouths decaying over time. The heads are served on a tray.

Floral journal displays the immortalization of all the bouquets I’ve enjoyed during the past 2 years. After each flower has been dismembered, dried up, organized by color, flower types and parts, each group is packed then into sandwich bags. This is an inspiration piece in suspens, it came about during my artist residency at NARS Foundation and is an evolving project.
